The Military Wives Choir return to Leeds Castle in 2013
Heritage Events are pleased to announce the date for next years Open Air Classical Concert at Leeds Castle – Saturday 13th July.
The Military Wives Choir were a huge success this year and have agreed to return for 2013 ! The choir has had an extraordinary year, with their debut single and album reaching the number 1 spot in the UK charts. The choir have performed to royalty, dignitaries and celebrities, including singing at No.10 Downing Street, the Sun Military Awards, the opening ceremony of the Olympic Stadium and the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
Last year, this “Best of British”, spectacular classical concert, featured the world famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by John Rigby with star soloists, and military band, the Central Band of the RAF.
The aerobatic display was by an original World War II Spitfire and Mustang, choreographed to dramatic themes with split second timing. The rousing finale of flag waving favourites and spectacular firework display was set against the stunning backdrop of Leeds Castle, awash with picnic parties, gazebos and cheering crowds, enthusiastically joining in the singing and euphorically waving Union Jacks, and singing along with patriotic favourites.
Heritage Events, Chris Yates said, “We were so pleased the Military Wives enjoyed themselves so much they asked if they could return and we will be announcing soon who will support the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and which Military Band will be featured. ”
Audience member Margaret Lane, said after the concert, “We had the time of our lives last night. The concert itself and the organisation of it were both outstanding and a credit to you in what must have been challenging circumstances. To hear Nessun Dorma reduced me to tears! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE can we do it again next year and don’t change a thing (except a bit of sunshine perhaps!)”.
Alexandra Brown from Bearsted added, “Thank you for organising such a brilliant evening at Leeds Castle. It is an occasion we will all remember for ever. Can’t wait for the next one!!” –
