Employers visiting the Kent 2020 exhibition had the opportunity to win an apprentice for a year in a competition organised by Kent Apprenticeships.
Exhibitors and visitors were invited to take their business cards along to the Information Point within the Apprenticeships Zone and enter them into a prize draw. The winner would be given an apprentice to work with them for a year, with support from Kent Apprenticeships, who would help the employer to select the best apprentice for his or her business. The winning business was Sideways Media based in Folkestone and the apprentice who was selected was Sam Rowbottom from South Kent College.
The competition was promoted by Kent Apprenticeships’ ‘A Team’ – a group of young apprentices who were on call throughout the day, providing exhibitors with free practical support, such as running errands and restocking literature racks.
Within the Apprenticeships Zone, young apprentices working with Kent employers gave demonstrations of bricklaying, floristry, electrical engineering and hairdressing.
The Apprenticeships Zone featured a number of leading Kent-based training providers, who showcased some of the wide range of apprenticeship programmes they can offer employers.
Kent Apprenticeships offers employers a bespoke support service to streamline the process of taking on an apprentice and ensure the employer gets the right person for the job.”
There are over 100 apprenticeships available in over 60 industry sectors, providing recognised qualifications in engineering, child care, business administration, retail, IT, catering and hospitality, health and social care, amongst others.
